La Ruïna

Coproduction TVC – Focus Audiovisual and Escándalo Films. 2008

‘La Ruïna’ is an adaptation for television from the theatre production equally named.
In the original work, seven characters live a supernatural experience in a dining room of an old flat in Barcelona; while at the outside a sudden economical crack proofs the absurdity of the value scale that rules our lives. The audiovisual work parts from the original script and keeps its undeniable values: the tonality, the rhythm and the characters.

The possibility of travelling into space through a “dimensional hole” that has always existed underneath a dining table of grandma’s flat, is the non sense trigger where the main plot begins. The first movie’s challenge is to make this fact seem true, from where a surrealist comedy will be built up.

A referent of this kind of tonality on the Catalan script, similar to Charles Kaufman scripts; works that shield behind a realistic and contemporary surroundings, a world we all know and that looks familiar, but through which some functioning pieces is being changed.
